Project  revived !

The project now has 2 developers: perni  and toprach   We are students at the JKU university Linz / Austria.

We will rewrite TeS completely and provide a free hosted version. The site could be up in July 2006 - further details will be annouced as soon as available.

If you are interested to help with programming, promoting, translating, making a nice looking webpage etc... any help welcome!

Our goal is to create software that will

support teachers to get feedback from their students and improve their teaching skills.

help authorities to assess quality in schools.

        help students to cope
        with
        unqualified
        teachers.

          define a standard
          for teacher
          evaluation.

FAQ

  • What is Evaluation?

    • It is an online survey system giving a school the chance to have their teachers evaluated by their students. It includes the questionnaire in different languages and graphical statistics about the results.

      • Every student can only take the survey for his teachers

      • every student can take the survey only ONCE for his teacher, to make sure the results are true. (e.g. once every 3 months)

      • After the survey is finished each teacher gets his graphical statistic so he/she sees what the students think about him. He also gets feedback on how he compares to the average of the teachers in his school/department/country.

      • The vote is anonymous. Once a student finishes a survey his answers cannot be traced back to him. This is to take away the fear of consequences for unwelcome but true answers.

      • It is easy to set up. (see Installation)

    • And older introduction into what evaluation does can be found here: http://johannes.kutsam.at/content/view/38/

  • I am a teacher or headmaster. Why should my school use Evaluation?

    • Because you want feedback from your students, so that you can improve your classes!
Evaluation offers a fast, easy and secure way to get feedback from all students. The results can be filtered, compared to the average of all teachers in a school /department /country /world, depending on how many schools there are in the database.

    • Because you want to benchmark the professionality of your teachers with other schools. This is interesting in countries where students can choose where to go to school. Good students will choose good schools with good teachers.

    • Because you have teachers with tenure that exploit their position (->they don't work anymore). If you confront them with the staggering result of a wide spread survey they might change, otherwise you would have a tool that might help get this teacher removed from his job.

  • I am a student. Why should my school/university/college use Evaluation?

    • Because you want to reward good teachers.

    • Because you want to pass on experience to younger students.

    • Because you want to tell a teacher, who can not cope with criticism, your opinion without having to fear consequences.

    • Because you finally want a feedback system which is long known in the cooperate world (Quality Management!)

  • What does it cost?

    • It is free!. It is licensed under the Terms of the GPL. However if you want to contribute financially to the project, I will be glad to offer support.
